Immigration Services

In Australia people who provide Immigration Assistance are required to be registered as agents. These agents have to meet certain professional standards.

Agents are community based, non-fee charging and provide a high-quality service on a basis of honesty and integrity.

The Geelong Migrant Resource Centre has three registered Migration Agents, operating Monday to Friday, preferably by appointment.

Services include information, casework, consultation, counselling and referral in relation to:
  • Family Migration
  • Economic Migration
  • Refugee and Humanitarian Entry
  • Change of Status
  • Protection Visas
  • Temporary Visas
  • Visitor Visas
  • Extension of Visas
  • Citizenship and Passports
  • Migration Review Tribunal
The agents provide basic information and referral in straight-forward situations.

They are able to assist on a self-help basis where appropriate and in more complicated cases they are able to handle the case and become a long term adviser and advocate for the client.

In most complicated situations clients will be referred to specialist services.

The service is:
  • Confidential
  • Honest about prospects of success
  • Information is accurate and up to date
  • Records will be kept and clients will be informed.
